MOLDED SEALS

X-Rings & Quad Rings

The four-lobed upgrade to the O-ring. X-rings resist spiral failure in reciprocating motion, hold lubricant between the lobes, and seal with lower friction — a drop-in upgrade that fits standard AS568 O-ring grooves with no redesign of your hardware. The mold parting flash sits in the lip groove — never on the sealing face, so it can't cause leaks.

  • ✓Four-lobe profile prevents twisting and spiral failure in dynamic service
  • ✓Double sealing line with pressure self-compensation — seals reliably even at low pressure
  • ✓Fits standard AS568 / metric O-ring grooves — no groove redesign needed
  • ✓NBR, FKM, EPDM and VMQ silicone compounds
  • ✓Every batch dimensionally checked; test reports on request

COMMON QUESTIONS

X-Ring FAQ

What's the difference between an X-ring and an O-ring?
The four-lobed cross-section resists twisting, holds lubricant between the lobes and seals with lower friction — better for dynamic service. O-rings remain the economical choice for static sealing.
Are X-rings suitable for high pressure?
They resist extrusion better than O-rings at the same squeeze. For very high-pressure service we recommend them with back-up rings — ask our engineers.
What are the limits of X-rings?
Keep rotary service at or below about 2 m/s — X-rings are not for high-speed rotation. High-pressure service needs back-up rings against extrusion, and they cost more than standard O-rings. Our rule of thumb: static sealing → O-ring; reciprocating or frequent start-stop → X-ring.
